Tonya Gates joins Retail Specialists as a seasoned Property Manager with nearly two decades of expertise in commercial real estate operations. In her role, she oversees property management, maintenance coordination, and tenant relations across the company’s retail portfolio. Her comprehensive skill set spans property inspections, vendor management, financial oversight, and construction coordination, making her an invaluable asset to our property management team.
Prior to joining Retail Specialists, Tonya demonstrated exceptional leadership at real estate firms including Shannon Waltchack and The Barber Companies, where she managed diverse portfolios of commercial retail centers. Her experience includes overseeing multiple retail properties, coordinating tenant improvements, managing capital projects, and maintaining strong relationships with property owners, tenants, and vendors. At Shannon Waltchack, she successfully managed sixteen commercial retail centers and a commercial condo association, while at The Barber Companies, she spent 18 years honing her expertise in retail property management and tenant relations.
Tonya holds a Real Estate Professional License from the State of Alabama and has completed specialized training in property management systems including Yardi, MRI, and Datex Property Solutions. Her technical expertise extends to HVAC systems through certification from Alabama Power Company, and she maintains proficiency in various property management software platforms.
