First Watch Opens Its Doors as Additional Retailers Prepare to Welcome Customers at The Shoppes at District 31

New retailers and restaurants continue to join Alabaster’s newest retail destination as leasing momentum builds.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 18, 2026) The first group of tenants at The Shoppes at District 31 is beginning to take shape as several highly anticipated retailers and restaurants prepare to open their doors in Alabaster. Leading the lineup, First Watch is now open, marking a major milestone for the development and giving the community its first look at the future of this new retail destination.

Additional retailers preparing to open include Nothing Bundt Cakes and Chipotle Mexican Grill, with more businesses expected to follow in the coming months. Other announced tenants include Hollywood Feed, CAVA, Panera Bread, Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Aspen Dental.

Developed by Alumni Properties, The Shoppes at District 31 is the first phase of the larger 75-acre District 31 mixed-use development located at the intersection of Interstate 65 and U.S. Highway 31 in Alabaster. The project is designed to become a premier destination for shopping, dining and everyday conveniences for residents throughout Shelby County and the greater Birmingham region.

The five-acre retail phase will serve as the gateway to the broader District 31 development, which will ultimately bring together retail, dining and hospitality offerings in one of the fastest-growing trade areas in central Alabama.
